The 200 sq m group design space and 200 sq m adjacent practical teaching laboratory for the Faculty of Engineering at The University of Nottingham, underwent a full interior fit out and refurbishment.

As part of a £230,000 investment at the Nottingham University Park campus, the fit out created a series of modern and fully equipped spaces. These create a unique learning environment for the students and deliver the all-important ‘wow factor’.

Creating flexible spaces for a variety of teaching activities

The rooms are being used to support the new Aerospace degree course and wider teaching activities across the Faculty’s six departments. The new space will benefit more than 400 students and staff.

An intelligent approach to interior design

The interior design for the two educational spaces include a white, grey and blue colour scheme, referencing the many aerospace companies that use this colour branding. Blocks of colour were also used to create strong features while a full sized, blue feature wall with an image of an A380 aircraft creates a focal point.

Light vinyl flooring makes the room feel spacious and glass partitioning has replaced many solid walls. The partitioning was installed across the entire length of the room to creating the feeling of openness and encourage higher levels of natural light.

This marks the 40th fit out and refurbishment project that B&M has completed for the University of Nottingham in 2016, as it continues to improve facilities and learning environments for students and staff.
